◎ Company overview
Kanda Weather provides hyperlocal weather data available to African businesses and communities.
Kanda Weather is a Nigerian (Delaware Corp) B2B SaaS weather data platform that has built a crowdsourced weather data network. It focuses on developing countries that lack dense, reliable weather data. They source data by:
- enabling individuals to collect local weather data using low-cost IoT devices and share that data via blockchain technology. This is a B2C product
- providing B2B clients with a propriety weather sensor network to analyse hyperlocal weather data
The only African weather data platform that combines 3rd partner data and own-company data.
Industry focus: aviation, agriculture, renewable energy and insurance.
Problem
In many developing countries, the scarcity of weather data poses significant challenges for both communities and businesses. Without sufficient weather data density, these regions face difficulties in accurately predicting and preparing for weather-related events, exacerbating the impacts of climate change. As a result, communities are left vulnerable to natural disasters and extreme weather events, while businesses struggle to make informed, data-driven decisions to mitigate risks and optimize operations.
Solution
Kanda Weather Solutions addresses this critical issue by introducing an innovative approach to weather data collection. By leveraging crowdsourcing and affordable IoT technology, Kanda empowers individuals and communities to contribute to the creation of a dense and reliable weather sensor network. This network enables the collection of hyperlocal weather data, filling the gaps in existing data infrastructure and providing communities and businesses with the localized insights they need to better prepare for and respond to weather-related challenges.
